The Origin of Panglipuran Village
Penglipuran Village is believed to originate from the word “Pengeling Pura,” meaning “a sacred place to commemorate ancestors.” Its residents are descendants of Bayung Gede Village, Kintamani, who were brought to this location during the Bangli Kingdom as a token of appreciation for their loyalty and service. Since then, they have built new settlements while maintaining their ancestral customs and traditions, which remain preserved to this day and are the village’s main attraction.
